Our last day in the city until around noon, before we officially started our road trip back home. We woke up around 7:30am and went down to have breakfast at the hotel. We stayed at Hotel Le Priori and their restaurant was under renovation, but apparently the restaurant is supposed to be amazing, so we might have to visit again some time in the future. They opened up a small room in the hotel for breakfast, filled with pastries, fresh fruit, good quality deli meats (Adam’s opinion), organic hummus, and more.
We decided to check out the Jardin Universitaire Roger-Van den Hende botanical gardens, along the way home. When we drove in, it didn’t look like a botanical garden because we just saw a massive greenhouse with plants. We were very unsure of our decision at this point, but we walked farther in and there it was… a beautiful garden filled with a variety of plants, with a couple of little ponds. As we slowly entered into the garden, we spotted a cute little chipmunk! I think it was nibbling on something, but I tried to take some photos with my phone, moving closer and closer slowly… until it decided to run into the hole in the tree trunk. Then we spotted another chipmunk coming out of another hole, assuming it was the same one, haha.
Adam spotted these heart shaped flowers? I’m not sure what they are called. It was difficult to capture on his phone, so I took a photo of it with my DSLR. I ended up taking many photos on my camera. The flowers were just so beautiful and there were a lot of bees collecting nectar from them.
This plant looked very fluffy, reminded me of a feather duster.
This one is one of my favourites! I love the colours and how dainty it looks.
We needed to stop somewhere for lunch, so I suggested a place in Drummondville called Maison d’Herbes, because they followed me on instagram and they had kombucha, smoothies and other vegan friendly goodies 🙂 It was in a very random part of town, but the cafe was amazing. We were able to taste a sample of their kombucha made with hemp! It was my first time having kombucha made with hemp and it was delicious! Their kombucha tasted very clear and smooth, compared to others I have tried, and I’ve tried many. They have 2 flavours – blueberry/hibiscus and the chlorophyll, both tasted great and refreshing. We ordered 2 small sandwiches, a mango, ginger, strawberry, banana smoothie (it was amazing), and the kombucha with chlorophyll to-go. We also discovered an awesome local brand, Chanv. It’s a hemp-based skincare line and Adam loved the smell of their hand/foot cream and their deodorant. They did smell amazing, but we didn’t buy anything, since we were saving money.
We made another stop along the highway for an early dinner. I think it was around 4:30/5pm? I can’t remember anymore. It is more difficult to find vegan options at pit stops, gas stations… but I can always adjust. I got a veggie deluxe burger at A&W, with no mayo or cheese. Adam just got a regular burger. Nothing interesting here… just a long ride home and Adam is amazing because he was the driver for the whole trip. I don’t like to drive, but I will if I really need to. I get anxiety when I am not familiar with an area, but I know that driving more will give me confidence and experience to conquer this irrational fear. I am mostly afraid of other people and drivers.
I ended up getting home around 9:00pm and when Adam dropped me off, he gave me this beautiful gift, from the Galerie d’art Inuit Brousseau (Inuit Art Gallery). We checked out the gallery while we were in Quebec City, on the Sunday. I thought he was buying it for his mom, but apparently not.
It’s a print of Ningeokuluk Teevee’s, Sedna’s Wonder. I was checking out her artwork online and the original sold for $800.
From a distance, I thought she was an astronaut/mermaid, which sounds pretty amazing.
Thank you Adam 💖
